Assigment #7;Canadian Personalities
Hi again,
first things first, i have to link my assignment to this post, click here.
* the questions are in purple and the answers and in regular font :)
Which category of Canadian Personalities interested you the most ? Did you like the "we inspired", "we founded", "we fought", "we built" or "we governed" section the best? Why?
- I liked the "we inspired" part the most because, if you go on the profiles and click, "Chronology" there's a list of years. Those years start from the beginning of the persons life time, to the end. For example:Peter Pitseolak;for 1902 the website says "1902 Born in November on Nottingham Island, near Baffin Island (Nunavut) and spends much of his youth hunting in the area of Cape Dorset/Kingait."(this is the website i am referring to)
Which personality interested you the most? Why?
-Gabrielle Roy interested me the most. The reasons why it interested me the most is because when i opened her biography the FIRST sentence is, Canadian literature changed in 1945, that got me reading onto the next sentence which is, "so did the life of Gabrielle Roy" Then i read on, Gabrielle Roy is a French Canadian who grew up in poverty in Manitoba. she brought a new kind of literary genre in Canada. Also as soon as i opened her page i saw the last name Roy. That reminded me of Mrs.Roy :). At the top of the blog there is a picture of Gabrielle.
In your post, suggest three more influential Canadian personalities that could be added to this site. Why did you choose these people? Which categories would they fit into?
1- Don Cherry
Don Cherry is a Canadian TV announcer for "Hockey Night In Canada" allot of you just know him for that but here's a little more about him. He had dropped out oh high school and became a hockey player, then retired from hockey and became a construction worker and was selling cars for a little while, about two years to be exact. Then he took over for a hockey coach who had just gotten fired ( he was not the head coach for about 3 years, then he became head coach of the Boston Bruins. ) He then started working for Hockey Night In Canada, and he is still working for Hockey Night In Canada today. I chose to write about Don because Don is a known man, but a lot of people just know him from Hockey Night in Canada but now after reading my blog, you have found out a bit more about him, to find out more click here. He also inspired people, as a coach you inspire your players and now he inspires the players on TV and you also even hear him telling you to go play and try out hockey.
2- Celine Dion
Celine Dion is a very famous singer. She has inspired a lot of people to listen to her music and i would put her under the "we inspired" category. Here's a little bit about Celine, she was born in Charlemagne (a small town 30 miles east of Montreal, Quebec, Canada). She is the youngest of 14 children of a musical family. They owned a club, and on weekends each of the Dion kids would all preform one by one. By 1988 Celine was well known in the province of Quebec, she then released albums etc, and that's how people know Celine Dion now a days. This is where i got most of my information.
3-Jason Spezza
The last person I'm gonna be writing about would be Jason Spezza. I chose to write about Jason not only because hes one of my favorite hockey players but also because, hes a very nice guy, he also fits into the "we inspired " category because he helps a lot of kids out, he even has his own program "Spelling with Spezza." Thats a good way to get kids into spelling. Here's a little bit about Jason's life; Jason Spezza was born in Brampton, Ontario on June 13th 1983, He has two twin siblings, Matthew and Michelle 3 years younger. Jasons father and uncle both played hockey. Jason started playing hockey at a very young age. When he was young he watched the Toronto Maple Leafs play, and now he plays against them. Jasons dream was t be in the NHL( national hockey league) and that's where he is now.I got this information here.
Which History-Maker did you have the most in common with? Were you able to figure it out from the clues given? What do you share with that person? What are some things that are different between you and that person?
James Naismith is the person i got that i had the most in common with on this game. i was not able to find out who the person was by just looking at the clues. James and I has 2 main things in common, he lived in Canada and the US and got to travel both, and that's what i would like to do, and also he likes playing sports, i love sports, i play sports in free time and i play a lot of them not only one specific sport. Also i chose that i wanted to have a school or library named after me , and he did have a school named after him. The things that we didnt have in common were that he was born in Novemeber, and i was born in July, he had 3 siblings i only have one.
One hundred years from now, (in 2109!) imagine that students are learning about Canadian History Makers and they discover you. What will you be remembered for? How were you a Canadian History Maker? You are using your imagination, so think about some things that you would like to accomplish in your life and imagine that you have all the accomplishments of your life to look back on. Write a short profile of yourself, imagining the contributions you have made to the future of Canada
Bardha Lipa was born on July 26th 1995, she was an amazing volleyball player, she was only 17 when she went to her first Olympics meet, her and team Canada's volleyball team, that participated in the Olympics, came in first over all, the team had all her friends from back in middle school on it. She ended her volleyball career in 2027. Bardha was not only a volleyball when she was just 38 she had discovered a new country and it was named after Bardha. She will always be remeberd because of her volleyball skills, and of course the new country named after her.

Its so cold; Assigment 5
This week in Ottawa, was not as cold as it was last week. Last week, we couldn't go outside for recess because it was minus thirty degrees, and if we stepped foot outside our noses would freeze, we had a ten minute frost bite warning, so it was MUCH MORE safer to stay inside. My teacher, asked us to write about how the "Early Canadians " survived, when it was this cold. We have stuff that they never had in the past, we have warm houses, heaters, blankets. Life for them was probably really bad the first winter, because they were probably not expecting it to be this cold, but later on they probably got used to it, just like we did. Also the weather in Canada changes a whole bunch, last year we had A LOT of snow, I'm pretty sure we had a record, but it wasn't as cold as it was this year. This year its cold, but we don't have to much snow. Have you ever wondered why they came to Canada in the first place? Well, one reason was, the government controlled how they lived, many of them were poor and barley had enough money to survive, so they probably thought Canada would give them a better chance at life, there are many more reasons they immigrated to Canada, another would be education. The government was also offering free land to those who were willing to move. Many of the houses back then only had ONE room, imagine living in one room with your whole family. How did they stay warm ? Well.. since it was ONE room, they had one fire place that was used for cooking and heating the home, it was made out of stone and has a huge chimney. The way they got around in the winter was by, covered sleighs pulled by horses. So now when your outside and its cold, imagine how the "Early Canadians" survived (: It must have been tough, but they managed to get through our Canadian winters. This website helped me with my research. The reason why my family and I immigrated to Canada was because there was a war in my country, and we had no other place to go but my family doesn't regret ever coming to Canada because here, we get a better education, and we met a bunch of new people. When we first got to Canada we didn't expect it to be this cold, the first winter we were extremely surprised because back in Europe the weather wasn't this cold, but as the years went on we got used to Canadian winters, just like the "Early Canadians" got used to living in the cold.

I'm going to write about a famous baseball player named, Ferguson Jenkins also known as Fergie Jenkins. He was born on December 13, 1943, in Chatham, Ontario, Canada. Got married 3 times, the first wife was divorced, the second one passed away, and he was with the third one. He had five children, Kelly, Delores, Kimberly, Raymond (step son), Samantha. He played baseball, first for the Philadelphia Phillies in 1965-66, Chicago Cubs; 1966-73, Texas Rangers;1974-75 and the Boston red sock;1978-81 and also more teams. He is a right handed pitcher. I'm not quiet sure if Fergie was the FIRST Canadian African to play major leauge baseball. The picture to the side, is a picture of Fergie. alright, goodbye (:

History of the Future -assigment #3
Why hello again,
I just read this blog, created by this man named Christopher Moore. This blog was about what happened in the past. In this blog he started talking about 1509,1609,1709 and all the way to now. The last thing he talked about in his blog was about the future as in 2109. This is the link to his blog. My assignment is to answer his question about 2109. In 2109 I think there are going to be alot of electronics and a bunch of new devices that are probably capable of doing anything, because now a days we have very interesting equipment, imagine a few years from now, if we have been able to discover so many things from the past, we will discover alot more, towards the future. I also think, in the future the world will be a more peaceful place for everyone to live in.Another thing that could change can be transportation is going to be alot faster in the future, especially if your going overseas it might not take as long as it does today. Who knows what can happen 100 years from today! I hope you enjoyed my opinion on what I think is going to be happening in the future.
